Hello, my name is Claudio Pietrobelli, founder of this site, and avid enthusiast of the Mazda Miata! Where and when did my passion for this roadster begin? In the very early 90s, shortly after the Miata came to market. I was still too young to ask a dealer to let me test drive their newest soft top sports car, but I was lucky to have a friend that was connected to the Mazda dealer, as she already owned an RX-7! So, she asked to take one out, and I rode along as passenger. I was instantly hooked! It was a beautiful sunny night and we went for a lengthy ride, returning it after the dealers closing time lol. But I remember it struck a chord with me - the top down feeling, the tone of the exhaust, the way the engine revved so freely, tight handling - it was perfect!

In 2006, I bought my first Miata, a 1990 Mariner Blue model. I found it in Southern Ontario, flew there to pick it up, then drove it back to Thunder Bay. I drove it for 3 years with no issues, then had to sell it in 2009 to a lovely couple that re-surfaced with it when I started my Miata club in town back in 2018!

In 2018, I purchased a 1993 NA from an elderly gentleman in Southern Ontario, who had owned it from new. It only had 53,000 km, and had never seen rain, let alone winter! I also immediately founded Lake Superior Miatas, a club to bring together fellow Miata owners in Thunder Bay, with approximately 30 members.

To be competitive in autocross, I have been steadily modifying it over the years, with the emphasis on improving the handling. I have put over 40,000 km on it myself so far, and it has not given me any problems at all. Does not burn oil, never fails to fire up at the first twist of the key.

Although I have driven all 4 generations, I have only ever owned NAs. But now, I am contemplating upgrading to an ND - more specifically, a 2019 and newer.

Now I have started my next Miata project, which is this site. My goal is to have a site exclusively for Canadian Miata owners to share their stories, memorable rides, car projects, and more. Thanks for taking the time to read - cheers!
